Our Foundation: Community, Compassion, and Commitment

HCJC was founded in November 2022 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing local initiatives aimed at addressing housing needs, ranging from emergency and transitional housing to permanent housing solutions.

HCJC’s projects are supported by numerous community volunteers who generously contribute their time, skills, and resources, including both donated items and monetary support.

We have established strong partnerships with local churches, which play a vital role in advancing our initiatives.

We take great pride in building meaningful relationships with individuals who are unhoused or at risk of housing instability.

Why We Are Here

As of 2020, nearly 46% of all renter households in Jefferson City had incomes at or below 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI). This translates to an annual income of no more than $30,700, meaning these households can afford a rent of approximately $768 per month. With rents continuing to rise across the city, individuals face an increased risk of housing instability. There is a pressing need for housing at all levels, and that is exactly what HCJC strives to provide to the Jefferson City community. – City of Jefferson Housing Study.
