Jefferson City Room at the Inn
Jefferson City Room at the Inn (JCRATI) is a fully volunteer-staffed shelter that operates as a low-barrier, emergency, overnight, winter homeless shelter providing a warm, safe place to sleep during cold months when no other option is available.
Room at the Inn is based on a national model that began in Nashville in 1985. JCRATI opened in the Jefferson City community in February 2022, operating out of Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri’s main offices. After the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Catholic Charities, the shelter location moved to the First Baptist Church Activities Building in downtown Jefferson City.
This year, the shelter season begins on Friday, December 1st, 2023. JCRATI will serve up to 20 adult guests per night on a first-come, first-served basis. JCRATI will operate from 5:30 pm – 7 am at 107 Monroe Street. Guests must follow safety rules designed to keep everyone at the shelter safe; being under the influence is not a barrier. We ask no screening questions other than name and veteran status.
Volunteers can choose from three different shifts and can also volunteer to deliver food to the shelter. Volunteers can choose dates and roles at the JCRATI SignUpGenius site.
Jefferson City Room at the Inn is a function of Housing the Community Jefferson City (HCJC).
