We are approaching an important moment in Housing the Community Jefferson City’s effort to establish a permanent Resource Center and expanded Jefferson City Room at the Inn at 107 Adams Street.
First, thank you to everyone who has signed and shared our petition in support of the project. We now have more than 450 signatures and are hoping to reach 500 by the end of this week. If you have not yet signed, please consider adding your name. If you have already signed, please encourage friends, family members, and others who support this effort to do the same.
We also need your support at the upcoming Jefferson City Council meeting on Monday, September 21, at 6:00 p.m. The Council will consider HCJC’s application for the 107 Adams Street property that evening. A strong turnout will demonstrate that there is broad community support for creating a permanent, well-managed place where people experiencing homelessness can find shelter, services, and a path toward stable housing.
We are asking supporters who attend to wear a white shirt. This will give us a simple and visible way to show the number of people who stand behind the project. If you have a blue JCRATI shirt, you are certainly welcome to wear that instead.
You do not need to speak at the meeting. Your presence matters. Simply attending and standing with others in support of HCJC will send an important message to the Mayor and City Council.

HCJC has demonstrated through five seasons of Jefferson City Room at the Inn that our community can come together to provide safe and responsible shelter for people in need. The proposed Resource Center and shelter at 107 Adams Street are the next step in that work.
